Misspellings

People misspell my name. I’m fine with that. It happens.

But apparently search engines are not. A look for Virgil Kanne yields nada.

So Inktomi, googlebot… if you’re listening:

Virgil Kanne, Vergil Kane, Virgil Kane are all really the same as Vergil Kanne.

And yep, Vergil Kanna, V. Kanne and Virgel Kanne are probably all me too.

And if anyone thinks they’re not listening, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see until the next time I search for Virgil.

Well, Google’s looking to add to the confusion with a little “did you mean?” in there. Which should bring me to another point for the record. I wasn’t named after the character from “The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down” or the opening line “Vergil Kane is my name and I served on the Danville Train”. Just a coincidence. Like having the same birthday as my mother.
